Biluochun is a famous green tea with an origin from the Dong Ting of Tai Hu, Jiangsu Province.

The name literally means "Green Snail Spring". It is called so because it is a green tea that is rolled into a tight spiral, resembling snail, and is cropped early spring. It tastes fresh, mellow, making the first sip unforgettable. It is also renowned for its floral aroma and showy white hairs.

Direct from the origin

Biluochun originates from the Dongting Mountains in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province in China. The elevation of 300m to 1000m above sea level is ideal for growing these delicate looking, precious green tea leaves.

Based on chronicles from the Qing Dynasty, the Kangxi Emperor had a visit to Lake Tai and was told by the villagers of the scary fragrance emitted by the tea leaves. Not convinced, the emperor decided to give it a better name, “green snail spring”.

Farmer - Ms. Wan

Ms. Wang is dedicated to making sure the teas produced in their farm are pure and high quality. Her dedication shows as she wakes as early as 6am to prepare her daily activities. At 7am, Ms. Wang is out plucking the leaves and fresh buds. “It takes me about 6 hours but I do not mind. The aroma that welcomes me everyday is motivating and I can’t help but feel proud of my work because I am keeping the tea culture alive.”

Farmland - Dontingshan Tea Garden

This Biluochun tea is cultivated in Dongtingshan Tea Garden, right at the heart of Dongting Mountains located in Suzhou’s Lake Tai. The Dongting Mountains natural reserve boasts of a planting environment where tea and fruit trees grow and bloom all year long. This plantation is about 900 meters above sea level, making the temperature perfect for growing tea leaves. Its fruit trees grow and bloom all year long together with the Biluochun tea, giving it a fragrant and fruity aroma.

History of Biluochun Green Tea

Bilouchun, which literally means green snail spring, was originally called Xia Sha Ren Xiang. According to legends, a tea picker ran out of space in her basket and was compelled to put the tea leaves inside her clothes. The warmth of her body caused the leaves to emit a certain rich aroma.
